DWELL at Home:  5 Ways Series  “Faith is learned as it is woven seamlessly into the fabric of daily life,” says Traci Smith in Faithful Families. Each resource in this section is designed to encourage and equip families as they nurture faith at home. Rather than adding yet another "to do" item on busy lives, these can be seamlessly woven into the daily and weekly rhythms of any family. Here is the link to Dwell.

The first day of Lent

Wednesday, February 26

This year the first day of the season of Lent (called Ash Wednesday by many) will be Wednesday, February 26th 2020. Lent (Latin for Springtime) refers to a forty-weekday period of penitence and prayer leading to the feast of Easter. It became a 40-day retreat during the seventh century to coincide with the 40 days spent by Jesus in the desert. Every Friday of Lent is a day of abstinence to serious observers. As a reminder of what Jesus sacrificed for us, during this Lent season some Christians will abstain (excluding Sundays) from a specific pleasure (examples, all sweets, wine/alcohol, internet activity); others will spend extra quiet time with God or devote themselves to reading parts of the Bible or an appropriate book; still others will find a specific way to serve others or to better care for the planet. You may consider doing something similar on your own during this season of Lent. (Note: Click here to view "14 Lenten Posters".)

Congregational Meeting (Re-visioning)

Sunday, March 1

12:30 a.m.-1:15 p.m.

Immanuel Child Care Centre

This is a process that values, includes and encourages the entire congregation's participation. One expectation of this process was that it would lead to discernment and actions for fulfilling the vision of our Lord Jesus for His church at this time in history, at Grace Church where we have been called. We are excited and expectant as we continue to keep this process in prayer. Please pray for the re-visioning team, and for the Holy Spirit’s leading around the “foundations” thread revealed: (a) Commitment, (b) Discipleship, (c) God-centred process, (d) Open hearts and no prejudices, (e) A planned theme focus, (f) Our relationship with God, (g) Repentance, (h) Discipline, (i) Prayer. Thank you.

Soup Sunday (SE Ward)
